The country

I'd be in two minds to call it 'god's own'. Because, ever since me, and a few other medical graduates stepped into this place, we've been faced by individuals, who wished to wry money out of our wallets or take us for a ride. However, if there are a few images which wrought its way into my memory, it'd be an incident on a sunday morning. Sunday morning sees us waking up lazily, and sifting thru the day casually. I was in the same mood too, and was on my way to the nearest shop, which was quite some distance away. Now the place i stay in, is an apartment in the middle of nowhere. Houses are scanty , dispersed among empty plots of land, and lush green plants EVERYWHERE. Monsoon had just arrived and the entire country side was moist, with large puddles all over. I was walking my lazy gait towards a main road, when a sight knocked the breath out of me. Ten metres away, a creature glided in front of me, crossing the road. Its head lifted at an angle above the ground, its body, curving along, its skin, brown, shining in the light of the noon sun. And what was most fascinating, was that it seemed to move as fast as a honda... It crossed the road, oblivious to my presence and glided further on, OVER a pond created by the rain. I say, OVER it, because it seemed to Walk on the water. Like the christ of the snakes. Needless to say, the incident rattled my senses, more so because, it was HUGE!! I hurried along my path, nearly traumatized at the sight of the snake. Here's my statement for the day. If you haven't been to kerala, you know NOTHING about it!
